MICHELLE JACKSON MANNIX

PROFESSIONAL CV/RESUME

PROFILE

Artist Statement

An intuitive, tactile and spontaneous process informs my work.    Seeking freedom in my expression, fully engaging my senses to allow my thinking to subside and my subconscious to take over.  I use highly gestural marks and brush strokes to evoke emotion, movement, and freedom within my work.  Obliterating, refining and covering become layered textures and I mix colors on the canvas to refine pigments and washes.  Bold colors dominate my work.   My mediums are pencil, acrylics and oil sticks.

In many forms I find myself in the doing - food, interior spaces, concepts, dirt, clay or paint.  When I lose myself in the process of creation - letting my intuition take over where thinking stops -  my inner landscape finds new language in the outer.
